My name is Carley Julien and I am about to embark on a personal challenge to complete the Pacific Crest Trail in order to raise money for Power To Be Adventure Therapy Society and experience 6 months of solitude, gratitude and learning. For the last five years I have worked with Power To Be as the Community Coordinator and outdoor educator for the Wilderness School, which is a five year program for youth that fosters positive social development and life skills through outdoor adventure activities. As an outdoor educator it is my role to provide opportunities for youth to be challenged, not only physically; but mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I realized this past year how important it is to experience that self-challenge myself. This led me to make the decision to hike all 4264 kilometers of the Pacific Crest Trail. The trail spans from the U.S./Mexico border to B.C. Canada and has an elevation gain of 0 – 14,000 ft; includes 17 national parks; and passes through six out of seven of North America’s eco-zones.
My goal is to raise $5000 that will further support youth in the Wilderness School program. This website is to chronicle my journey and for all of you who wish to hike the trail with me.
